In rhythm workshop, body percussion, rhythm composition and instrument knowledge have been the main concentration areas. Body percussion, where the body, voice and objects around are used as instruments is actually a work bringing dance and rhythm together. In addition to this work, which supports functioning/development of the motor system/skills and body coordination, composition works with instruments are also conducted. In these works, technical information on each instrument along with their stories are shared with children, followed by practices on key musical concepts like time signature, measure, note/beat values. Upon progress, children produce their own rhythm patterns and their variations, leading to a composition of their own with added entry, exit, syncope and transitions and present them. The workshop with its collective works not only enhance music and rhythm knowledge of children but also their ability to cooperate/work with others and communication/dialog skills.
